NEWSMay 2023Congratulations to Shanigwa and Anna who completed their final year projects and successfully presented their work to the entire school. Well done to both and the very best of luck with everything in the future.
Donal, Shekemi, Pallavi and Emer completed their 3rd year talks where they presented their work and future perspective on their research projects. Congratulations to Shekemi who took home an award for the best presentation. March 2023March was a busy month for the Johnson group with most of the student making the trip across the pond to Philadelphia to Pittcon Conference and Expo. Adria, Shane, Donal, Dominik, Shekemi and Pallavi all present posters and were challenged with some very interesting questions along with meeting some great chemists and friends. Well done guys.
That was not all the travel for the group as Shekemi, Donal, Pallavi and Adria travelling to Cambridge for the RSC Analytical Biosciences Group Early Career Researcher Meeting 2024. Congratulations Pallavi who won the Analyst Poster prize. Well done to all. November 2022We welcomed (back) our Post Doctoral Fellow Dr. Adrià Martínez Aviñó. Adrià had previously been a travelling PhD student in our group early in the year from his own research group in University of Valencia where he completed his PhD in Chemistry titled "Towards Portability in Analytical Chemistry: New Tools" (2018-2022). He previously obtained an M.Sc from Universitat Rovira i Virgil in Tarragona and his B.Sc. from University of Valencia.
September 2022Well done to Sean who completed his reasearch project in the group titled "Developing a Method of Double-Barrel Nanopipette Fabrication Towards the Development of Cobalt Sensors". We wish Sean the best of luck with everything in the future.
We welcomed Alexander Weiß as a visiting M.Sc. student from Justus-Liebig-Universität Gießen. We also welcomed Anna Kavanagh and Shanigwa Klein who will be completing their final year projects in our group. July 2022We are delighted to present work on Aprotic Solvent Accumulation Amplifies Ion Current Rectification in Conical Nanopores in The Journal of Physical Chemistry B. Great work by Emer and Dominik.
We welcomed our Masters Project student Sean Henry for a summer research project. April 2022We are delighted to present a mini-review on the Capture and analysis of double-stranded DNA with the α-hemolysin nanopore: Fundamentals and applications in Electrochemical Science Advances. A nice piece produced by Shekemi, Donal and Shane.
Our project students Zoe, Rebecca and Caleb finished their research projects in our lab. We want to thank them for all their hard work and wish them the very best in the future. March 2022We are delighted to present a review article on Sensing with ion current rectifying solid-state nanopores in Current Opinion in Electrochemistry by Dominik.
Also Shekemi, Pallavi, Emer and Donal successfully progressed through their Stage Transfer Assessment. February 2022We are delighted to present work on the Effect of Electrolyte Concentration and Pore Size on Ion Current Rectification Inversion in ACS Measurement Science AU. Fantastic work carried out by Dominik, Pallavi and Shekemi.
October 2021Welcome Emer Farrell who will be with the group for the next three years for their PhD studies.
September 2021Welcome back Dominik Duleba and Shane O'Neill who are re-joining us for the next four years for their PhD studies.
We also welcome Zoe Walsh, Rebecca Grealish and Caleb Lindsay Keane for their stage 4 projects. August 2021Welcome to Sebastian Utz, who joins us on Erasmus from Giessen University in Germany.
